Mastering Leadership and Entrepreneurship with Dynamic Coaching
Emotional Intelligence (BarOn EQ-i®)
Emotional intelligence, or EQ, is the ability to understand and harness emotions. It is considered a much more important predictor of performance and success than intelligence (IQ) alone. It is not a fixed point; rather, it is fluid and dynamic, and results from emotional teaching, and a willingness to grow and develop. Emotional intelligence tends to increase through each decade of life. It’s what we used to call “maturity” – how one handles one’s self and other people.
Our Leadership Coaches are certified to use the BarOn EQ-i. We assess a client’s level of emotional intelligence, in order to provide him or her with an understanding of their different behavioral competencies, strengths and weaknesses, implications and challenges, and how to use this information in their personal and professional lives.
By focusing on personal development, people can learn to handle emotions intelligently, and, in doing so, increase their ability to succeed in personal and professional relationships. Emotional self-awareness is the core of emotional intelligence. People often undermine or diminish their personal or professional success through outbursts of anger, frustration or tears because of their inability to manage their emotions.
The skills associated with emotional intelligence are acquired, and can be improved at any stage of life through training and/coaching. This makes the BarOn EQ-i a valuable instrument for identifying potential areas for improvement, and for measuring the effectiveness of an organization’s development programs.
The BarOn EQ-i is an effective development tool for individuals and organizations. It can be used as a group diagnostic for teams, departments, or business units – providing an in-depth audit of the emotional strengths and development opportunities of an entire organization – or it can be used by an individual leader or employee for coaching and professional development.
People with high emotional intelligence (EI) have satisfying and strong relationships. They manage their emotions and difficult situations calmly and effectively. They're also likely to be resilient in the face of adversity.
So, how emotionally intelligent are you, and how can you develop further?
